57 Clusters of Excellence, 1 podcast. This episode of “Exzellent erklärt - Spitzenforschung für alle” focuses on our research with Thomas Misgeld and Anna-Sophia Wahl. Topics include research into common neurological diseases such as Alzheimer's, multiple sclerosis and stroke, the self-healing powers of the brain and the Cluster's interdisciplinary approach. Current advances in repair mechanisms, the importance of neuronal plasticity and the use of modern technologies such as AI for research are discussed.

SyNergy is:
The Cluster of Excellence SyNergy (Munich Cluster for Systems Neurology) investigates how complex neurological diseases such as Alzheimer's and Parkinson's Disease, stroke, or multiple sclerosis develop. Even though these diseases differ significantly in their clinical manifestations, overlapping mechanisms are involved in their development. Using systems neurology as a new interdisciplinary approach, researchers can better map the processes involved in neurovascular, neurodegenerative, and neuroimmunological diseases and develop approaches for novel therapies. The cluster has been funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG) since 2012.
