    For Schools & Students

    Presentations

Our researchers enjoy sharing their enthusiasm for research and their research field with students and are happy to visit your classroom. From high school students to kindergarten, our researchers have presented to students of all ages. Examples include: What it means to work in a lab (high school, Astrid Feiten), Alzheimer research (for the Science Day at the Käthe-Kollwitz-Gymnasium, Alice Sülzen), and neuroscience (elementary school, Qihui Zhou), and introducing career tracks in (neuro)biology (elementary school and preschool, Lena Burbulla).

If you would like to learn more with your class/students about what it means to work in (neuro)science and/or you would like to learn more about one of our research topics, please feel free to contact us by sending Astrid van Kimmenade an email.

    Science Olympics: "Jugend forscht"

We cooperate with Germany's best-known competition for young talent "Jugend forscht" (science Olympics). Winners, age 16 and older, can apply for funded research scholarships in one of the SyNergy laboratories and gain laboratory experience. Read their experiences below:

Jantje (18): „The opportunity suited me perfectly, I have always been fascinated by neuroscience: the brain and spine control our life, they control how we function, think, feel. Overall, I am really satisfied with the internship. It was simply so much fun, the feeling is indescribable."

Johannes (19): „I was pleasantly surprised to be allowed to do many things on my own right from the start. Honestly, I would have been pleased just observing others, so being able to take on tasks myself made the internship even better."

Eva (20): "I had no idea how much data could be produced. I quickly learned that maintaining focus is essential, but it can be challenging not to get distracted by other interesting results that aren‘t directly related to your research question."
