PhD student (m/f/d)
Our research involves the development of human brain tissue models to study the molecular mechanisms of Alzheimer's disease, Frontotemporal dementia, stroke and other related brain diseases and to develop therapeutic approaches. We use state-of-the-art molecular and cell biological methods for our work, such as induced pluripotent stem cells, advanced molecular biology techniques, CRISPR/Cas9 genome editing, brain tissue engineering, scRNAseq, proteomics etc. We offer an highly international, versatile, extremely well equipped and productive work environment. We have recently received funding by an international research organization for a highly interdisciplinary project about developing and characterizing a human brain tissue model for Frontotemporal dementia caused by mutations in Progranulin, a relatively common, devastating, and currently uncurable disease.
The University Hospital of Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich is one of the largest and most respected university hospitals in Germany and Europe. 47 specialist clinics, departments and institutes with excellent research and teaching enable patient care at the highest medical level.
The Institute for Stroke and Dementia Research is one of the most renowned centers in Germany for cutting-edge research and treatment of neurodegenerative and neurovascular diseases. 17 international working groups are using state-of-the-art methods to research disease mechanisms and translate new scientific findings into treatment approaches for patients.
